I'm in the process of pricing up a job wiring for a new annex added onto the side of an existing 3 bed house.

I'll be installing interlinked smokes/heat alarms in annex but was unsure whether the existing property would need to be linked to these also?

There will be an internal door that allows access between the two properties so i'm assuming this will require they all be linked as it could be classed as one big property.

any literature i've found so far hasn't been much use, so any guidance would be great,
cheers

All need to be linked for grade D, as this is classed as one dwelling, what make are the detectors already installed

Good point Murdoch, if they are Aico or Firedex, you can mix and match wired and RF. So if existing are hard wired, just replace one base for RF to link to new
