Smoke Detectors?

Is there a regulation that states there must be mains powered smoke detectors in a property? Currently working at a property that doesn't have any, what code would this be on a periodic inspection?

building regs....a minimum of 2...linked..mains fed with battery backup....

There is no regulation to have them unless it is a new build or multi occupancy building but it is always recommended that they installed for obvious reasons.

You can list it but you would not be able to code it and only comment on the benefits of there installation.
