Thought about it a couple of times but they were far too expensive. When I looked it was much, much cheaper to roof normally (simple domestic) then add panels afterwards. Better cooling with well spaced panels also.

i agree but we fit for a company who has asked us to fit them ! first time for both ! may be worth doing just for the exsperiance!! may be NEVER AGAIN but im interested in seeing them?

May be a problem when one goes pop a lot easier to check which panel is faulty... beats stripping a whole roof to find a fault..

Romag do a lovely line of tile-integrated modules, which I believe they will be exhibiting at Ecobuild next week. Not sure how commercially viable they are though although I do know that their marketing/commercial efforts have been considerably streamlined of late, with the influence of Gentoo overseeing what's going on.

Been on the Redland PV tile training course and theirs are dead easy to fit. However, as you'd expect, they are designed to integrate perfectly with Redland's own range of roof tiles so fitting should be easier than something more generic. The only things I'd say is make sure you follow manufacturer's instructions in ensuring lath spacing is correct and pay attention to any flashing, if your system calls for it.

I also went on Redlands own training day for their tiles but at £3.50/W no one is going to go for them until the price comes down dramatically, still a nice product, cant knock the design/build quality etc.

thanks lads its a new build and he has to have solar pv as part of planning but wants it to blend in! money isnt the problem looking at size of hse so we will give it a go!

These are the solarcentury ones, quite a bit cheaper than redland but still much more expensive than an in-roof system using normal panels. Make sure they give you the solarcentury install manual before you go to site, then you won't find it too hard to fit.
