Hi, planning to add some extra things for a new bathroom to a ring main which covers top floor of my house, does below look sensible (hopefully self explanatory)...

Note all sockets/FCU's are outside the bathroom.

Ring main to CU is on RCD 30amp.

Any problems having a fused spur at 6m long?

By my calcs, I could be adding about 4 amps to this circuit if all items I add are running at max. My guess would be (without checking) I am still a long way off 30amps on that ring main.

Could you give a bit more detail as to the fuses/breakers protecting the ring? Is it a 30A fuse and an RCD or is it a breaker and an RCD?

I don’t see any problem with what you are proposing the spurs don’t actually have to be fused though.
why the spurs why not just integrate the FCUs into the ring as well?
Just make sure that it is actually a ring and it would be advisable to get someone to test it after you’ve done it.

Hi - what cable is proposed?
Modifying a ring circuit is a bit challenging. Unfortunately, after modification the circuit may still work but now be unsafe. This can happen if end to end continuity is not maintained. Proper working can really only be ascertained using test instruments. This is a BS7671 requirement and would be done for you by an Electrician. Just saying :) .

Do you mean the RCD is 30mA on an unspecified OCPD, or that the OCPD is 30A on an unspecified RCD ?

Either way, the best advice you will get here is to get an electrician to design, install, and test this for you to ensure it is safe to use and meet the requirements of the wiring regulations.

Sorry, I was not clear, it is MCB 32amp, here you go...

The right most is a fused spur is already 6m long, it is probably quite a long ring main already so was just thinking not adding 12m to it.

The middle FCU already is in the ring main of course.

The left most FCU could be incorporated in to the ring main easily, probably adds 3-4m.

What exactly is the " stuff you are going to add"?

Competent, yes
Safe, yes
Part P qualified, no

I do not have any continuity test kit unfortunately.

How has you competence been assessed?

Without test equipment how can you do this safely, or prove the safety of the finished job?

Nobody is part P qualified, part P is just a building regulations document which is free for anyone to download.

Have too agree with that statement.

I thought we were on a DIY forum, didn't know I had to be assessed to be competent before I was allowed to do DIY???

Not picking a fight with you but you stated you are competent ...... yet you don't have any proper test kit ............
