Discuss Split dual RCD CCU ? in the Australia area at ElectriciansForums.net

This depends on type of C.U. but.

either Remove 1 RCD and Fit Isolator and change to RCBO's except the freezer circuit (best option ) or
If there are two spare ways cut the busbar short of the spare ways and fit a neutral bar and MCB feed , the mcb and neutral from incommers ( using correct cable kit )

These items are not available from all manufacturers,

So if manafactured item's are not available don't bodge it

most split loads allow configuration of non protected ways. Rcbos although by far the best method, are still a tad too expensive for most customers

When are the general public going to start taking electrical safety seriously, Health and safety on site has now become a joke ( wot can't use steps ) but in the domestic market it's down to cost , makes my blood boil, People just don't comprehend the possible dangers they may encounter by cheap shoddy workimanship , materials and 'COST ENGINEERING' I think their philosophy is that if you turn it on / plug it in and it works it's o.k.
10 RCBO's will cost them about £ 150.00 how much will it cost if they fall downstairs cos the ground floor RCD takes out the first floor lights at 2am or their ins. company refuses to pay up after Billy Bodgit carries out a bit of wiring.

MOAN OVER!!

I would have advised the customer to keep it on the ring main if it was present, if specialised or causing problems then yes seperate circuit or rcbo if they are worried about the freezer going off

calm down bugsy youll explode :)

Personally I would shunt up RCD1 one position, whack an RCBO in between main switch and RCD1 and cut any busbars accordingly, if required. This way we can keep costs down by keeping several circuits on the RCD, and only buying one extra RCBO (but still have RCD protection) for the dedicated circuit.

Is there any reason this can't be done??
