Show us the back... it looks like some sort of key switch ...could be intruder alarm related nurse call or anything hard to tell where was it positioned ..any more info?
 
Safe disguised as an electrical accessory? they normally look like a twin socket with the keyhole being in one of the earth pin holes, but you never know!
