How about this then.
House I have just put a new consumer unit in with twin RCD etc etc tripped RCD when the rear lights were put on and also when the front lights were put on, the rear problem was they had connected to neatral to the earth in the back box.
At the front they originally had a one gang switch controlling the internal lobby light, they took this and replaced it with a 2 gang brass switch, somebody had been in to put the front outside lights up and taken a twin and earth from the switch, obviously a problem as there was no neutral, so, they connected the live to the ouside lights to the live feeding the switch. then to switch it, they took the neutral to the other switch and fed it from the earth terminal on the front plate, there was no link between the front plate and the backbox so if you have the front plate unscrewed from the backbox and turn the light on, bingo the front plate is live.
Sorry that was long winded but I couldn't get a picture.
