The tester that works for the company that we do a lot of labour only works for was talking to me the other day about his daughter's beauty salon where they were getting some new stand up sunbeds the information he had from his daughter was it needed a 65A supply (sorry can't remember the current rating). Now I did ask if it was a three-phase supply. However, she has an existing sunbed about 50A he told me that he had measured it at 47A (startup 70A for a quick second) I could not get over how much power these things take they are basically a fan and some tubes how come soo much power?

Did a solarium recently, 6 beds each with a TPN 40a supply. And no, I don't know where the draw comes from either. Each bed cost around 16 grand though, so I guess it's a bit more than a few tubes and a fan. However on this install the bed supplier did all the loadings and the whole lot runs on a TP 100a incomer, I was sceptical and the EIC clearly states maximum demand design by others!

It's scary the amount of energy wasted by these things if you think of how many there are in the country. Could probably shut a power station down if we banned them!

But then there would be even more girls walking round with fake tans, looking like they have just been Tangoed....

Very true. The world is full of fake people these days. Orange skin, yellow hair, inch thick make up, foot long eyelashes.
