Hi guys.
Who knows where i can get a simple explanation of these devices and how to use them. Yes i have looked at the big green book [ sec 443 ] and i am struggling.
Reg 443.2.1 says that if no overhead lines supply an installation then no additional protection [S.P.D.] is needed as long as the equipment has got the correct impulse withstand voltage table 44.3. Well i have checked some dis boards and switchgear we are installing and it is not on these and what about the kettles and hairdriers that will be plugged in. Impulse voltage is not marked on these. Table 44.4 says household appliances as well should have the correct rating.

Thanks for your assistance if you can understand this.
Daisy
