Hi, I was wondering why UK wall sockets with a switch are cheaper than those with no switch. This doesnt make any sense to me as surely the switched sockets should cost more as they have a mechanism.

Examples of this is:
MK 13A Unswitched Double Socket K781PPK | Wickes.co.uk - http://www.wickes.co.uk/MK-13A-Unswitched-Double-Socket-K781PPK/p/195081
MK 13A Switched Double Socket K2747PPK | Wickes.co.uk - http://www.wickes.co.uk/MK-13A-Switched-Double-Socket-K2747PPK/p/195082

Thankyou to anyone who can clarify this to me.

Just beware of cheap , sometimes shifting "Iffy" stock .
(What ever happened to inspecting goods before bagging it up -- includes "spinning a few screws"-very true in sheds at the mo. )
--a sorry state of affairs when have to buy a few extras to allow for returns ,and all that aggro --

As mentioned, most sockets installed are switched, especially 2-gang. I sometimes install 1-gang unswitched, but can't remember the last time I installed a 2-gang unswitched.

One or two customers are even under the impression that unswitched sockets are "illegal".
