Hi, I'm swooping the MR16 halogens for LED. The body of the new lamp is slightly bigger and I've managed to fit 5 of them but the 6th has beaten me. I can't shove it in far enough to get the retaining circlip to stay on. Any suggestions welcome. There is no obvious obstruction, I've cleaned the groove out, tried a bit more force, but it just won't sit in. Thanks.

could shave the rim of the lamp with a file and sandpaper.or try a different brand. some are a right pain to fit, esp. in cheapo fittings.

You may have problems. Transformers are designed for filement type lamps and the output is AC. LEDs are electronic and need DC.

You will need to replace the transformers with LED drivers.

As far as the lamp not fitting, if you reach up inside the fitting without the lamp in, you’ll see the two uprights that the springs attach to.... you can give these a slight push outward and bend them. it should give you a little more room.

You can get MR16 12V AC led lamps.
Though I agree it would be best to go for 230V GU10, or integrated lights.
