Hi all. I have been restoring a classic Volvo for a long time, and after getting the engine running, I tried hooking up the tach. I had previously installed a VDO tach, but soon found it was only able to be configured for 6 to 8 cylinder engines (mine has 4). Upon hooking up a "code-able" tach, (has three toggle switches on the back) following the installation guide, the needle doesn't move upon starting the engine. I have been told in previous forums that I may need a tach filter, however, I have also read that this would simply fix a tach that was "bouncy" and not one that doesn't do anything at all. Any suggestions? I can provide a wiring diagram if necessary.
