no structural survey that I can see I suppose that's a bit of a saving if you're willing to take the risk

We're NAPIT also and structural survey is a requirement if they're not doing them they'll have to from next inspection if they're still going.

I object to the term 'experts' being used so often in marketing. This is an alarm company as far as i can tell, what makes them PV experts?

Have none of you got anything else better to do? It's my website, it's my company. I have posted the odd time on here myself so it's no secret. The price and product model works well for us and is good value for customers.

We do complete structual surveys on all work, include an EPC, we do include a 10 yr insurance backed warranty and on the online monitoring is via OWL Intuition. As of today we are updating our site so yes some references may still exist to the 21p rate but on the whole we are making good progress in updating this.

Any more questions? (probably regret asking that lol)

Maybe you could share your secret to pricing - I'm clearly doing something wrong cos I can't get anywhere near those prices and like everyone else on here I'd like to be able to get near that for our customers .....

and maybe setting up an airline can only be done by Pilots

Well there is a window company in Birmingham doing solar that's the reasoning for my comments
They made it too easy for other firms to get involved who say they are experts when they are not and they don't understand it all they understand is there profit margines

Your going to have to switch to polys mate to offer them prices

I have done the figures allowing 2 days 2 guys for install both sparkies, its tight but can be done.
To be fair i dont think he his leaving enough a side for those rainy days.
I dont know what rail system he is using i based it on schueco.
Do you use segen SRE ?

I do - but it's a long winter ahead and I want to be around for my customers if anything goes wrong. I guess it's the same old argument of working solely in pv or having it as a bolt on to an existing business with shared overheads. I just couldn't make any money at those prices so I might as well flip burgers at Mcdonalds with a lot less hassle.

This is based on 3 fitters over one day. Most jobs we complete in a day with three installers, otherwise it's 2 installers over a day and a half. SRE i'll pm you the type of costs we are working on, it would be interesting how you compare it with what your working with.

About 85% of our business is PV. The remainder is our usual electrical contracting which has worked well as when solar has gone quiet in the past we have been able to catch up on all the commercial electrical work that generally builds up. I'm not sure how purely PV companies have managed to cope with the ups and downs over the last year I would expect that traditional electrical businesses that started doing PV would have been better placed than many.

We stock Renusol in addition to Schuco, Klixx and our own BritSol. Renusol and BritSol are similarly priced and considerably more cost effective than Schuco, I'm not exactly sure how they compare to Schletter to be fair, but if you would like a quote for a typical system feel free to get in touch.

i have over 100 rails
500 plus anchors
20 ac isolators and dc isolators
5 sma SB3800
3 STECA 3.6
1 FRONIUS IGTL4.0
2 POWER ONE 10.0

i must be mad all from last gold rush

So by your own admission your PV prices are UNsustainable as a standalone part of the business and are subsidised by the rest of your company.

PV companies cope with the fluctuations by charging a fair rate for the work they do as specialists.
