Howdy all.

Bad day at the office, on a block of flats at the minute. Ran in cables for intercom system and phone lines also tv's. The builder has gone and cored a nice 4 inch hole right through the lot :frown2:. Ceiling now tacked so running new ones in is going to be a pain in the ---.

Looking for some telephone cable joiners/connectors. Best looking ones i have come across are Scotchlock jobby's. Anybody used these before or does anyone have a better brand to use? And where to purchase them from?
Or would you recommend running new cables in. I've jointed coax before but i know it degrades the signal albeit a minimal amount.

Cheers

use the connectors that BT use. like a small scotchlock, push wires in without stripping, then pliers to crimp them. i got hundreds. make sure you whack a big bill to builder.

Cheers lads.

Did you get your's off ebay Telectrix? Wholesalers i use don't stock anything of the like.
Maybe B&Q

They are called jelly crimps I think. You'll get them on eBay. Best bet is to become mates with a BT engineer who might slip you a box of them.

th

cpc farnell sell them,or do what I do and bung my BT mate a fiver, just make sure you use the correct tool to crimp them, they are called cantilever action pliers.here,s a link to ebay.Jelly Crimps: Cables & Adapters | eBay

ÂŁ100 odd for a crimper. ???? i'll carry on using a hammer.

I don't know how many cables you need to joint but a Connection Box 201D takes 20 pairs in two IDC Connection Strips 237A. Much tidier than a fistful of jelly crimps and much quicker than soldering and sleeving.
KRONE CONNECTION BOX 201D

It has a selection of IDC stablemates for other numbers of cables such as the 78A
78A 4 Pair Junction Box

Ces bornes ça, ne sont-ils pas plus grandes que nécessaire?

Cheers for input lad's.

Grabbed a box of the crimp connectors from Edmundsons in the end. Needed it done desperado today. But in the future i may try Lucien's suggestion.
