There are quite a few things to be aware of when buying one far to much to list tbh (pm me if you want) but if you find a good one which has had its major services on time it will go forever great cars, best advice I had was research research , for the money your looking at though imo I would go for an early D4 as a lot of the D3 and early range sport teething problems were fixed I went for the discovery in the end and wouldn’t have anything else.

You'll spew a lot of coin,if you have it any length of time...but still tell everyone how great it was:)

Got a lot of pals, who spent 120K,and ended up walking...Guy Salmon's is the emporium of "Kings magnificent robes" round here...

Ask them why they use a covered tilt&slide recovery truck ;)

If I was your age, an apprentice and had 17 grand to spend I'd be putting most of it towards a house. Or if you already have a house take a chunk off the mortgage.

Totally agree!!

I bought a black Evo 8 in 2014 instead of a house I was looking at.

2 years later sold the car for 50% less, whilst the house had doubled in value. How do you think I felt...... :(

I suppose it’s something you have to get out of your system. I’ve had flash cars in the past but in retrospect should have ploughed the money into property. Biggest sense of satisfaction I had was when I swapped a Mercedes CLS for a bought and paid for Peugeot 206. Flash cars only if you’ve got money to burn or women to impress ;)

Nah, houses are okay, but you can't wash & polish them like you can a car. That black one, you will be washing it a fair bit, unless you take it up Jani's.

But surely renting is worse.

No capital gain
Paying someone elses mortgage with no house to show for it after 25 years
Can be turfed out by the landlord against your will etc etc

i agree, but id rather not pay over the odds for 4 walls and a roof when i do purchase, buy a cheapish fixer upper and work my way up the ladder
