I am currently working for a satellite and tv installation firm. The company have asked me to install Earth Electrode's for their installations. I have an ECS Card and am classed as an Electrician as I have C&G 2330 Level 3 NVQ.

This would involve running a 6mm cpc cable from the connection cab to the soi. Both of which are external to the building.

There is no power source at the installation.

I would like to know which tests I would need to do on the Earth Electrode, which tester I will require and if I am authorized to pass of the earth path of the system without being NIC EIC registered.

..has provided me with some information, but clarification from you guys would be much appreciated.

Thanks for all if any replies, Jimmy Comer.

All I would do is use an EET to test the resistance of the electrode and try and get the Ω as low as possible 1 Ω would be perfect but in reality you probably wont get anywhere near this, if your EET allows test the resistance of the soil before you sink your earth rod.
