Hi, firstly i am hutch and i am just leaving the forces i am a trained sparky but have loaded myself on the course to get the up to date 17th edition and also pat testing and testing and inspection in line qualifications. The volt meter and proving unit does this need to be calibrated for the assessment i am thinking of getting the martindale vipd voltage tester & proving unit? Has anyone got advice on that and also a few tips for the elecsa assessment Cheers![h=1][/h]

i was just reading something along those lines... you might find this useful.. its from the elecsa website

http://www.elecsa.co.uk/Documents/P...to-Avoid-Common-Part-P-Assessment-Issues.aspx

all testing equipment needs to be up to date and calibrated accordingly..
this site will explain everything you will need including books, recent jobs you have done etc...

i hope that helps..

ps welcome to the forum by the way ;) or the mad house as some call it lol

Dont need a proving unit mate at least £50 odd for one of those and you dont need it....just a known source such as the incoming side of a double pole switch as found in dis-boards etc......either an MFT....multi-function-tester or a selection of separate testers with current callibration cert and the appropriate test leads in good condition.....GN3 OSG and the BRB/BGB n all........
