Sorry guys!, im kinda new to this testing stuff.

If you were called to connect a gas solenoid valve to a supply, I take it that it would it be nesessary to check the main gas earthing is in-place beforehand..

If this is so, what test would be required? and how would you do it??

Thanks in advance!

ouch!!!!!

Ok Dan

what you are talking about is the Main Protective Bonding to the gas pipe(because its an extraneous conductive path)

Earthing and bonding are entirely different things, and are there for entirely different reasons

You will be carry out a continuity test using a low resistance ohmmeter, and you will need to disconnect the bonding at one end to eliminate parallel paths

you will quite often need to use a wandering lead to reach from the BS951 clamp back to the MET, remember to null the wandering lead when you null your meter leads;)

I have a feeling we may be chatting quite a bit in the near future.....:p

Thanks Shakey!..
Yeah i must agree with you there.. You seem to know you stuff and hopefully i can get more advice from you..
