Once an installer is registered with OFTEC they are considered to be a ‘competent person’ and this allows them to self-certify any installation work they do, avoiding the need for it to be checked by a building control officer. This makes the whole installation process much easier and saves both time and money. Work that is self-certified by an OFTEC competent person also carries a workmanship warranty against building regulation non-compliance. This provides you with peace of mind because, if a problem is found and the installer is no longer trading, someone else will carry out any remedial work that is needed.
