Discuss The Burka - To ban or not to ban? in the Electricians Chat - Off Topic Chat area at ElectriciansForums.net

Well what are we worried about then?

I thought we meant guys could wear them and disguise themselves and hide things under them?!

Dont think I said that Dan the thread was about women and Burkas and thats what I commented on.

Actually ISSIS have banned the burka for security reasons!!!! alegedly see ISIS bans the burka - http://www.news.com.au/world/middle-east/isis-bans-women-from-wearing-burkas-after-chiefs-attacked-by-veiled-assassins/news-story/5356534a06f3213389835f34281ecf80

I believe this was in responce to the SAS wearing them in a raid on an ISSIS bunker
see http://www.express.co.uk/news/world...s-raid-headquarters-Syria-Raqqa-jihadi-leader.

All above info from a rag is it true I dont know but its possible.

I thought the concern with security though was while we allow women to wear them, men can hide under them hence the SAS giving it a bash.

I didn't think the women wearing them actually did any harm per se, it was more to do with the possibility one day a man will wear one as a suicide bomber or whatever.

Its possible that the burka could be used to hide a bomb etc and its happened too but a good old rain coat, carrier bag, suitcase would be as easy.
heres a funny one locals noticed a "woman" in a burka wearing mans shoes see Police thought man in burqa was a 'suicide bomber' - but they were VERY wrong - http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/suicide-bomber-disguised-woman-burqa-6796817

A cross dresser????

To be fair to ISIS, not a single bomber so far has worn a burka have they lol?

And the guy on the beach with the guns hat shorts and a t-shirt on and not even any sun glasses (wants to watch that UV in the eye issue). Probably didn't have sun tan lotion on either.
You forgive me Dan, being a bit old my memory fades from time to time. I seem to remember several such incidents you suggest, since suicide bombing started in the last two decades, but I may be wrong.

I just googled 'Bombers dressed as woman' and got several hits;

ISIS suicide bomber 'dressed in a burka' kills four at Saudi mosque - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3102596/Carnage-ISIS-suicide-bomber-dressed-woman-burka-blows-car-outside-mosque-Saudi-Arabia-killing-four.html

Burka-clad male suicide bomber strikes in Chad capital | The Long War Journal - http://www.longwarjournal.org/archives/2015/07/burka-clad-male-suicide-bomber-strikes-in-chad-capital.php

And if your last sentence, was in reference to the attack in Tunisia, I think that is in poor taste.

Not here though, where the thread is about.

Burqa's have been used on several occasions by men in the UK mostly to evade arrest and usually related to terrorist activity, it's the only outfit you have a high chance of going through passport control without having to prove you are who you are pretending to be on the passport.
If you google it you will see its not as uncommon as you may think in the UK and is often surpressed from media to limit racial tensions... you know how surpression works like the same as when 1400 kids were raped because Rotherham Police were tiptoing over ethnic issues for fear of been accused of been Islamaphobic or racist in someway... that worked well for all them kids!

Dan,

Look you said 'To be fair to ISIS, not a single bomber so far has worn a burka have they lol?' And that's not true. Point 1
Point 2 You said 'And the guy on the beach with the guns hat shorts and a t-shirt on and not even any sun glasses (wants to watch that UV in the eye issue). Probably didn't have sun tan lotion on either.' Which I said was in 'poor taste'.
Comment directly on these two points. If you have made a mistake, we are all fallible admit it. As an aside. your 'last scentence' would have probably resulted in a report from me to the mods, and you I think are the forum owner, so this should be addressed?

Next time I have free for arguing and proving things, is Wednesday afternoon or the following Monday.

Take your pick.

Islamism is an outdated, medieval, tribal, manipulative and misogynistic entity.
This sounds slightly contrary, but at its essence, it's supposed to be a peaceful religion.
The way that it is abused by a vile element using the word of Allah as justification for their power crazed fantasies means it has no place in the 21st century.

Mind you, I'm religion intolerant, whatever guise it lurks under!

I'd say no to banning it, but would also add I don't agree with their laws coming into our way of life.

On the other hand security background say's bin it ................ as for police officers being allowed to wear it, well that's just mad.

And this could be seen as Baiting for an argument, forget that Dan is the owner I would jump in at this point for any member. What I would say here is that there is a pm system for that kind of thing, If you feel offended then send a Pm but lets not derail the thread to the point where it has to get Moderated or closed.
D Skelton Started the thread for a genuine reason, let's please keep the debate going.

Look, I'm sure Burkas have been used occasionally as a disguise by people who aren't Muslim women but that's no different to guys who've dressed up as women to escape prison. In fact how is it different to bank robbers wearing masks or sunglasses to hide their identity? I don't see it as a remotely valid argument to ban them.

Cases where burkas have been used by terrorists to conceal their identity are very few and far between which is hardly surprising. If you're a terrorist who wants to move around freely without raising suspicions of other citizens or law enforcement the last thing you'd dress up as is a devout Muslim by wearing a burka, and let's be sensible, anyone who was going to use a burka to obfuscate their identity is just going to use something else if they're banned, there's no shortage of options. .

My good lady had a valid point when she pointed out forcibly removing clothing from yer daughter would result in violence beyond imagining :)
