Not having much else to do we decided to pop over to the NEC to catch the Renewable Event. It was actually quite interesting and there were some interesting keynote speeches.

It was interesting to see that TedM's digression chart was used (and credited) by the head of climate change at CBI.

The event is aimed at investors and end users rather than the installer so you would expect the general tone to be pretty optimistic. In general, it was - however, there seems to be an enormous amount of frustration aimed at the government and the consensus appears to be that the coalition is making a right balls up of the renewables industry. Biggest issue appears to be the uncertainty that hovers around anything that the government do.

Barry Gardiner delivered an interesting speech where he pointed out he was no fan of subsidies and that the government is WRONG to try convince the public that they can keep energy prices down - prices WILL rise regardless. It was interesting to hear a frank and honest speech from an MP in opposition.

Brian Cox even popped in to give an irrelevant but highly interesting lecture on energy and where it comes from.
