I need to install a timer circuit to activate a solenoid valve so it operates for 2 minutes every hour.

I was thinking of using either a mechanical timer (but the increments are often not small enough) or a digital din rail mounted timer but I'm unsure if I can program one to these requirements.

Could anyone suggest anything for this application?

Cheers

:Dis this working on GREENWICH TIME .

You get compressor condensate drain solenoids which have a built-in timer that might suit your needs. Otherwise some standard DIN mount 24hr electronic time switches have the ability to do 24 on/off operations per day. You could also use a 'flasher relay' or 'flip-flop relay' or 'asymetrical cyclic timer' where you can set the on period to 2 mins and the off period to 118 mins. These are avaliable by many different manufacturers in many different form factors.

Yep,the DIN mounted module timers would do this, such as is used on the biofilter agitator pumps.
An indication of what the application is,would help.

It sounds like an irrigation timer, there are plenty of those around, or you could try one of these..Sonoff switch

You can get small timers that fit between the solenoid and the solenoid plugs.
You can adjust the time interval and the time it is on for.
Waterproof also, we have one outside that must be 10 years old.

I can take a picture if you want.

these Omron timer can be used for what you need and can be set to pretty much any on/off delay. Depending on how big the solenoid is they can directly control it or the can operate a bigger slave relay.

Hi,

You can use one delay on timer (that governs the 2 minute) where it gets out of the circuit by relay NO switch and one timer24h for the repetition every two hours.

The timer24h would have a separate in-built battery that does not need live voltage to continue operating.

The question is, WHEN during the one hour you want the solenoid valve to operate for two minutes?

This point stills not clear: do you want to count for 30min-activate valve for 2min-count for 28min-then restart from beginning?

I assume with the thread been over 3months old that a solution may have been found, unfortunately the OP has not since responded to confirm.
