Hi,

Any help would be appreciated! I am residing on a canal boat and the toggle switch which turns the engine off stopped working. Looking at the wiring - it appears both wires have disconnected from the switch. I have bought a new toggle switch but am not sure about the correct placing of the wires. It has connections stating 1 and 3 - which wires go where? the pictures in the links below show the new toggle switch and the one that is currently in place with the black and blue wire connectors disconnected.

Thanks in advance

Just connect a wire to each terminal, not important which way around. The wires should be fitted with ring crimps, don't just try and wind the bared wires around the screws.

What is the engine by the way?

it's that big noisy lump of metal at the back, just under where he stands at the tiller.
