What is all this with pass rates?

I keep no record of my, or my tutors pass rates in any exams.

Tutors seem to think it is ameasure of their abilities if their students all get 100%

It isnt - it is a measure of their ability to teach to the exam. They should teach the course, it the students ability that matters.

Any tutor that claims 100% (or indeed 0%) is suspect in my book

A friend of mine went on one of their courses and said although he passed the exam he didn't really learn a lot and he said the trainer bloke was only interested in letting the all the guys on the course know how clever he was. We all need that don't we!!!!!!

I agree with you, Shakey, however I would question that you appear to be judging (in-directly) a fellow training company based on the small bit of information given in what is meant to be a feedback thread.

As a trainer myself, I am often directly asked what my course pass rate is by prospective candidates - often, they have been "burned" in the past and been in training sessions with other providers with a high failure in end-results in the study group, which they see, quite acceptably, as their own measure. Should I therefore refuse to tell them if asked?

By the way, I am not the Robert of this company and I don't have a "100%" pass-rate.

Anyway, apologies for further de-rail from thread. Back to the training feedback...

I don't think Shakey has been on the forum for a while now.

As they say: "there are lies, damned lies, and statistics" - I did the 17th at my local college who insist everyone already has the 2330 or equivalent before enrolling. Firstly this ensures everyone who sits the exam already has prior electrical knowlege, and secondly it seems to make the certificate worth something; everyone knows the exam is basically an information gathering exercise and can be passed by someone who has no idea what any of it means, or failed by someone who is just baffled by anything more complicated than wiring a plug and shouldn't be sitting the exam in the first place.
Likewise having everyone leave the course with a smile on their face could just mean the tutor is a good salesman.
