Morning all;

has anyone been on this course? 13 Day Electrical Multi Course

would you recommend? or is there a better course anyone could recommend

basically; i'm looking to get into the electrical industry, starting with domestics and then possibly looking at specialising

i fully understand i need to start at the bottom and gain experience, but i'm in the fortunate position that i have a neighbour willing to take me on to learn the ropes/ basics

ps. i'm based in Swindon, Wilts

it also only takes 2/3 seconds to kill your self if you dont know what your doing.

and if your neighbour is willing to let you "tag" along i would suggest doing college!! and it dont take 2/3 years... you can do 17th one night a week for 5 weeks, also 2391 at college 1 night a week for 5 weeks and do a NVQ 3 distance learning while working for the neighbour and that will take however long it takes you to do the task book..!!

and them 3 courses combined with bit experience are way better than what trade skills offers...! plus it will only cost you about 1600

I do have to agree with the other posts, wonder courses should be avoided at all costs.

They might get you through the exam but I'm sure they can't teach you even the safety basics.
When I was at college we spend the first term studying health and safety, that was a few years ago so I'm sure they spend longer now!

I went to an Elecsa tech talk (or what ever elecsa call it), just coz I wanted the freebies MK, Megger and Crabtree were giving away.. Also got a nice Elecsa mouse mat I'm using at the moment.

Anyway. Got talking to an assessor (think his name was Brian?) he and his fellow assessors were getting sick and tired of having to assess wonder course "know alls". He said they should be out lawed.

I have done the MOD1 5 Day course at Trade Skills 4U in Crawley and cannot recommend them highly enough. The staff and tutors are great and the course was very well run and presented. This week I went along to do the 4 Day Inspection & Testing City & Guilds 2392-10: TS4U-92 but was too ill to be able to continue with the day. They were so supportive and understanding and have allowed me to re-book the course at another time when I am well again, with no financial penalty at all. I could not be more impressed with their attidude and grateful to them. From conversations I have had there with people who have done more courses than myslef the comments are ALL POSITIVE. A great establishment with a very large number of courses on offer. From the two tutors there that I have come into contact with I wish to state that the level of teaching there is very high indeed with time taken to ensure that everyone in the class gets the point and understands what is being presented to them. 10 out of 10 is my verdict.
