Hi all.

Just joined today to hopefully get some information. I am currently serving in the forces and am due to leave next year with an interest in training to become a domestic / commercial electrician. Not sure which one yet. I am looking at leaving these shores to start a new life in Auz, but want to learn and become qualified before I leave. Can anyone suggest a training company in the HULL area who will take a novice with minimal experience to teach, qualify and will not rip me off. Thanks.

if i had my time again i wouldn't bother, surprisingly you can be a domestic spark with just a 17th edition which you could get at any college, for commercial and industrial the current standards ar 2330, NVQ l3, AM2, 17th, and the all inspiring 2391. its a long road but i suppose its worth it.

Hi & welcome.:)

to be honest mate, i beleive it will be quite difficult for you. To become an electrician takes a minimum of 3yrs, with experience in most areas of the trade. Im not saying that we are all fully skilled in all areas of the trade, but we will know enough to be able to know our limitations.

On top of that, you then have to transfer your qualifications, and pass an exam to be able to work in australia. This is on top of the other documentation ect, that you will need to be able to work there.

Can you get any paid for training as part of your resettlement programme, or has that all gone?
I did a 4 day course at her majestys expense on domestic appliances as part of mine, but that was in 1986.
Never fixed one yet.

Cheers........Howard
