Hi im a 35 year old and i want to train to become an electrician but am stuck as to what course to go for as there are a lot to choose from and id like to train around my current job if thats at all possible?

The idea is to get a trainee job in the industry and do your training around that (usually 1 day a week at college), then it'll make more sense.
You need a technical certificate which is done at college, and an NVQ3 which is done on site.

Best thing to do is speak to your local FE college; chances are the course they'll suggest will be City & Guilds 2357, which combines the technical certificate and NVQ.
