Hi,

Im putting my girlfriends tumble dryer in the garage. The wiring will be in black pvc conduit, i would like the conduit to run approximately 6-12 inches horizontally above the dryer to a double gang socket to plug it into.

My concern is the mutual detrimental influences of the dryer heat. Specifically how hot do the dryers get around it? Will the conduit be ok being installed above it or would I be better rerouting?

It's outside so there's room for air flow but i'm worried the conduit will start drooping and slowly melt or the heat will raise the temperatures of the conductors and they'll melt.

Many thanks if you can help,

can't see a problem. esp. if the tumbledryer has a clearance from the wallof around 3 - 4 ".
alternatively, you could use some galv. steel conduit. easy enough for DIY if there's no bends.

As above it should be fine, the area around the dryer will get warm but not hot.

If you are worried about a little droop spoiling things with the girlfriend place the saddles a little closer than normal. :)
