Morning all,

I need to split a TV signal for a large block of flats.
Does anyone know who might make a large tv amplifier (4g coax)? the largest I've found is 8 ways. I don't mind taking a feed to 3 different 8 ways but I just wondered if there was a larger unit out there?

You don't do it like that. You calculate your losses at the last point and work backwards. You are looking for 50ish dB microvolts of signal at the last point, you calculate your cable losses and tap losses. You measure your received off air signal level and then select an appropriate launch amp.

Having said that, you may be lucky and it could all work via 3 x 8 way amps, however it could be a very expensive guessing game. As well as not having enough signal, it is also possible to have too much signal.

Received signal level(dB) + amplification level (dB) - losses (dB) should = min 50dB microvolts at last point

@Murdoch why the disagree? I do all my own TV and satellite installs, from single houses to multiple flats. They are easy.
I gave you an optimistic, I think you are on for a first ever full house of those wee reaction things.

For what it's worth, I don't have aerials or Sat dishes as part of my PL insurance. I have a local TV man can do aerials for me (and well worth the money), and Sky will do most of the dishes for free (I'd install the cable, wouldn't let them loose on that). If needing dish pointed anywhere outside of 28.2 Sky's Satellite or Free Sat then back to TV man to sort.
