Had a Call from a customer yesterday , funny smell from shower switch ,well we all know what that will be , so said ill be with you tomorow first thing , in the mean time she rang her utility compay who are looking after her world , they sent a guy out who looked at the problem and said , I cant do any thing because i cant verify the size of the cable that goes to the shower ??? , then state i cant look at the cable because i will have to remove the cover and i cant do that due to health and safety , then said i cant switch the circuit off because i canot confirm the circuit is identified correctly , then said you gas and water isnt bonded , oh yes it is because i did it the water is in the bathroom and the gas is in the meter box out side , as for the labling the board was changed and labled , the shower size was reduced to suit the cable and he was told this but just said sorry , so after all this why are they bothering just let us proffessionals do the job im off ther today to replace the switch nice simple little job

I would agree but find i cant as it may breach health and safety, i also have to limit the length of my reply so as not to be put at risk from RSI.... sorry!

Funny thing about the original post, does anyone else remember being taught "if in doubt shut the lot down"?Oh sorry it may be against some law to drop the main switch, lol I suppose in their world everything would be perfect.

Thank you for sharing!

Dont understand the point of the post to be honest.
Why ring utilities if youre gonna go round next day ?
Customers fault for ringing them in the first place , clearly the guy wasnt a spark if hes not prepared to remove CU cover so why turn up at all ?
Not really suprised by any of this lol.
