Discuss Using old cable that has been sleeved in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

People pay top money for red and black t&e???
That’s bonkers. But yeh... I see it as nostalgic.

I’ve got an old round pound coin and a single use plastic maccy d drinking straw.
Staring the bidding off at a tenner each?

the colours are both insulation and identification. The red and black still insulates fine but you can't use it for identification.
Although the regs say the conductors should preferably be identified throughout their length (i.e. coloured insulation), oversleeving identifies them enough to comply.
If you really want to mess people around, use black for line and red for neutral. ;)
All in my opinion!
