Hi, my single oven needs a new thermocouple and the wife is getting a bit twitchy about it. Her father has offered us his old double oven that he just happened to be holding on to. Soooo my oven was a 2.8 kW on a 2.5mm t + e. Looking on line this looks to be a 5.3 kW double oven. Will it be ok on my 2.5mm supply while I wait for parts? I dont really want to be pulling in cables. Thanks in advance!

It's on the 30A ring. She basically wants to make a birthday cake and the kids tea for maybe a week so no, not really. I was going to leave it in place until I saw the feed, now I'm thinking of putting my old oven back in for the sake of a £30 thermocouple.

If I just put the double oven in and used the one of the ovens it would only use as much power as the old one, changing nothing, right? As long as we only use one oven at a time till the old one is fixed. The hob is gas so that is just the ignition.

check the fuse/breaker rating. if it's 16A or 20A, it will break before the cable suffers damage.
