Can someone please advise how I can get this plug to work into a UK power socket? We have just bought a Vintage 1970s display unit which has lighting built in and this very small plug attached. Can someone please advise what I can do or need to get this working? Do I need an adapter?Vintage display cabinet lighting 52C20524-1710-422D-A092-C86C133299F3 - EletriciansForums.net

I'm sure Winston will be along soon to explain that :p
Never in the field of Human conflict can so much be owed by so many to so
After inspecting and testing the equipment to ensure that it is safe and suitable for connection to the UK mains supply you could fit a BS1363 plug with a suitable fuse.
If you had a 13Amp socket to connect it to!!!!!

All jokes aside, the voltage is the same, so changing the plug is the right way to go.

However, the cable and the light need checked for damage before turning on. There could be a fault somewhere that isn’t evident just now.

What is the cable? Possibly 2 core braiddd flex by the age of it.

More pictures please. We like pictures.

That is not a normal mains plug as such, but an interlink connector for lighting accessories. The connector and cordset are rated at 230V but the lighting might not be. For example, it could be 24V and that connector is intended to plug into a transformer. Therefore the voltage of the lamps should be checked before connecting. If they are in fact mains-voltage fittings, then yes, cut off this connector and fit a UK plug.
