motorola gp 340's dear but good or the Mitex range from cpc,we have them at the farm and they have a range of about 5 miles.

Binatone terrain 750. Very good.

They come with a dock to charge but in 5-10 years when batteries die you can put in normal aaa batteries.

I have got a set of Motorola T80 Extreme walkie talkies and they are really good.

If they are on what is termed pmr 446 then yes,the professional ones such as the mitex and motorola wont as they run on either vhf or uhf.

the motorola t80 is a pmr446

So would be compatable with the binatone ones I posted and most others.

Ive done a little digging and you want either uhf or pmr446

the motorola t80 extreme is a consumer radio.

Might not be the best for your needs. Have a look at mietex or whatever phil mentioned or other brands as well

Depends how much you want to pay, I'd say the T80 extreme is good having got them myself.

I think the next step up is licenced radios but thats a different kettle of fish.

PMR 446 radios have a power output of 50mW Licence radios have an output of 5W (5000mW) so its clear to see the range advantage on sites. Good models are Motorola CP040, GP340, GP344...We use 6 CP040`s very happy with them

Binatone 150 Twin Walkie Talkies - Toys R Us - Britain's greatest toy store

Yeah, go on, rip the arse out of me for suggesting Toys R Us, but you'll struggle to beat that price for a pair of rechargeables with a charging base station. Probably doesn't have the range and features of more expensive models but it depends what your needs are.

if Toys R Us, are cheaper then why not........just find some of the range statements on here a bit doubtful.....have lent our radios to control guys before now, as their pmr Argos jobbies couldn`t reach the 3rd floor.
