some woman in pub was talking to me and was saying what i do etc so she asked me to have a look at her socket, well usually i would be flattered but as her girlfreind was with her at the time and they both looked a bit rough i had a few doubts.
she obviously had a few and kept on going on about the fact that i wouldn't rip them off and could i do the job what experience etc i had all good questions most people don't ask. the point was it was obvious she wanted it done for next to nothing and i thought it would be difficult to get any money off her.
i asked a few questions and it turned out she let the property and it had solar pannels, i told her i could not do the job as its got solar pannels it needs a specialist electrician.
i was just wondering if this is true or just a good excuse from me, i have never seen a solar pannel set up and would worry about isolation etc, i wouldn't like installing the pannels but as most properties in the local vacinity have them is there any info on isolation procedures and testing for when that phone call comes in?

a solar install shouldnt stop you from doing other work in the property , you just have to remember to isolate from 2 locations , and that information should be labelled at the mains.

what do you mean `worry about isolation`?....theres a rotary iso for the DC incoming (from the panels) if thats what you mean....

well, you're not likely to get your leg over, so insist on cash

didn't want any kind of job off these girls! they were hard work, and suspect a waste of time turning upto a job where i doubt if they remembered me after the amount of drink they were putting back.
thanks for info on isolation guys now no panic attack when asked

Sound like time waster to me. Give them your number and tell them to call you when their sober.

Their after a 'dave down the pub' instead of an electrician.

well they can come and see me on a friday evening then my names not dave...but i`m often down`t pub...

Went to a job last week that had Solar Panels installed. Part of the job was changeing MCB for shower requireing Consumer unit to be turned off and due to no knowledge of solar panels it got me alittle concerned (same way OP was)......found a lovely laminated sheet of A4 explaining (with diagram) shut down and power up sequence so was all good......Admittedly i still phoned the company up (lincoln based installer) and double checked with the installation firm.

Always best to double check than blunder along.
