Stainless steel never rust and chemicals don’t hurt it

That installation, whatever it is, looks very new. I would like to believe that the manufacturers and installers responsible for it would also know how to operate, maintain and advise you accordingly.

Yes but this one's in a basement beneath an industrial laundrette. The original installation crew are no longer contactable.

Not true at all.

There are several grades of stainless steel, all with varying resistances to certain chemicals.

Water resistant sure, but chemical and other processes, no.
Rob I’m not a pipe expert so I will take your word for it. We don’t have stainless conduit anyway

Not just for conduit.

Control panels etc.. 316 grade stainless is most common, but will rust if scratched heavily, an will corrode rapidly if the environment contains ammonia.

You guys do have stainless conduit, but I must admit it was difficult to procure on a project I needed it on. In fact, it was cheaper for me to ship lengths from Germany with the machine than buy locally in CA

Well Rob I learned something new today being a master Electrician and been doing this work for 32 years and I never knew we had stainless conduit
