I have seen a transformer rated at 10,000 watts with input voltage of 110v and output voltage of 220v. Can input voltage of 110v and wattage of 100 watts produce the output of 10,000 watts?

What determines the amperage or wattage output of a transformer? The voltage input/output formula is always available but I've never seem formula to calculate the input/output wattage. Any help?

No, it doesn't - the transformer does not multiply output power like that. It will step the voltage up though. This will be determined by the ratio of turns on input side and output side. There will be some energy losses due to heat and so output power will always be less than input power.

Sounds like it's a 110 to 220 step up transformer.

leaving losses aside for a minute. the output watts will be same as input watts.so the amperage will be same ratio as the 2 voltages. half the volts and double the amps. and vice versa. obviously, the output wattage will be slightly less than the input, due to transformer losses, e.g heat loss.
