Hi,

I just done a job today and got some reading of 7ohms, on continuity of a light circuit (B6 CB) this is the highest I have yet seen
is this still ok? Or is this a problem?

Cheers

either you've got an extremely long circuit, or bad connections. yes. 7Ω is a priblem

about 0.7Ω-- 1/10 of what you say you are getting.

if so i nominate him for one of these:

and when are some guys going to learn the difference between r1 an R1? it's like meerkat and market. different words, different meanings. ssssimplesss

Was there a switch in circuit? Poor/dirty contacts can cause high readings. Operating the switch a few times will often produce a better results.

theres no fixed value for R1 R2....just a suitably low value....but 7 ohms?...
come on what do you think...
for a start it wont meet a Zs for a 6A MCB to BSEN60898...will it...

Move to another point on the lighting circuit and retest then compare the readings.

Loose connection IMHO - are the CPC's twisted together or connected "properly"?

Thats why I put theoretically. Done an ecir last year where the tenant had a very damp wall and the zs was 316 ohms! My boss told me to leave it as that was within regs. Don't agree with it myself

no...its p!ss poor....
we have the means to get it down to a decent level....so why take the half arsed approach to it all?...
beats me....

Thats why the EICR needs a C4 - requires investigation.
