Hi Guys,
Just a quick question, after lvl 2 2330 is finished (year one) what am I capable of doing hands on wise? e.g wire a house? Just a plug?
Just trying to find out how much is done in year 1 if possible :)

Cheers fellas.

you can do whatever you are competent to do. full rewire under supervision, get as much practical experience as you can, working as a mate, say. then concentrate on your level 3.

So once 2330 lvl 2 is done, im 'qualified' to do that? Or does it come down to competancy?

depends on you, the course is structured for beginners and gives you the basics putting it into prectice in real world costs ya more than you price if you dont know stuff....

expierience is a million dollars

mate i did the course 3 years back, to be honest most of the course was health and safety. in real world terms half the stuff is not relevant or you would forget most things like i did without working on site which is hard to get on, most electricians take family on only.

my uncle and dad know about the same as me, and they have not been trained but had some work done at home.

But none the less, its gotta be done :(

Totally agree with you mate, but it you will understand twice as much if your working in the field while your studying, easier to understand. sometimes in regards to theory side, you think where the hell would i use that in the real world.

Ive been working for an electrical firm on and off for a while its just a shame i cant combine the 2 because the work is in england whilst i live in wales. So betta start looking for mates work locally i think. Bloody tough life aye lol

2330 level 2 allows you not to do any more than before you started. Its whether your competent. Anyone who is competent can rewire a house if they so wish , without one qualification. They just have to notify it via building control.

Cornish small man.

I suppose the 'official' stance is that completion of the lvl2 allows you to start the level 3 - the lvl2 forms half of the technical certificate.
As per the JIB the technical certificate on it's own without the NVQ level 3 doesn't qualify someone to make final terminations unsupervised.
Before anyone starts going off about how they don't like the JIB, I've heard of this being used in court before - the installer was working as an electrician when he would have been graded as a trainee, so the prosecution argued that he wasn't competent.
