hi guys,

i am purchasing a flat screen plasma to install on the wall. can anyone tell me what cables i need to chase into wall for:
  • blueray dvd home cinema surround sound
  • HD sky plus box
  • playstation 3
any advice on the installation would be much appreciated. thanks

Your sky will clearly be HDMI, PS3 are HDMI and i assume your blue ray player is so they all need HDMI cables. Make sure you allow sufficient length as i have seen peope order leads which are far too short and end up unable to connect them at one end. You will also need a power supply for the telly - obvious i know but better to mention it in case. For best sound quality, use an optical cable between your Sky HD and the sound system, not sure if the PS 3 will work through it that way though - you can use an optical cable from the tv output to the sounds system but that is slightly less quality! Hope this helps a little!

i use the version 1.4 HDMI leads from http://www.cables-leads.co.uk/ - they have never let me down on price or quality. I am sure the offer advice on what you need for your system too!

check your PS3 and DVD, as long as its HDMI on there you wont need it. You can always put one in for an option later on (my xbox is the old one and uses scart, but the new ones dont) To be fair, most things you get now are HDMI. Depending on how far you want to go, you could add some Cat 5 or cat 6 from your router too, as some tvs have ethernet ports - all depends on how far you want to go or what equipment you have

Id tend to try n fit trunking of some description to enable replacement, upgrading as the advances in TV and teck moves a such a fast pace right now that futureproofing is almost impossible
