Hi,
I was wondering if someone could put in quite simple terms, what I will need to do in order to be able to sign off PV panel works.

I'm a qualified electrician but only have my 16th edition and nothing else.. which has been enough to do the work I have been doing, But now I need to up my game if I want to enter solar panel installation.. I have been offered a job and they are willing to take me on and teach me how to install the system but what they need is an electrician that can also at the end of the job, Test, Inspect and sign off the work being carried out...

My question is.. Can I do this with my 17th edition and part P alone, or do I need my 2391 Inspection and testing also..?

Through my research I have also come across MCS Accreditation... Is this needed?

Any information would be a great help, thank you.

Kieran

I believe MCS is required if the energy feeds back to the national grid, so for the installation to qualify for FIT MCS is needed

I have been told by NAPIT that in order to be an approved installer and also approved in inspection and testing of PV panels I need to have passed these course's

17th Edition
2391 Testing and inspection
And also a 5 day course in installation and testing of PV panels..
NAPIT will then come and assess a job I have done and accredit me after my assessment... Which sounds like a massive amount of work, but i'm not sure if there are any easier routes to take...

Cheers, Kieran
