In the picture can be read 10(40)A. What is the capacity of the meter 10 A or 40 A, why are there two values?

The maximum load is 40A. The figure of 10A is the base load, for which the calibration is optimised. E.g. it might be accurate to +/-1% at 10A, but although it will carry 40A the accuracy reduces to +/-2% at that current.
 
I couldn't even see a 10 or 40 for a good minute then, let alone say what they mean. Too many numbers on there ?
