Hi all.

Just wondering what a newly qualified electrician should be earning? He’s literally just qualified, done his 4 year apprenticeship at college, he’s 18th edition, got his 2391. Good worker, can be sent to domestic jobs to complete on his own. I provide his power tools, I provide him with a van for business use only. What do you think is FAIR being as he is a direct employee and I am running a small business with 5 staff?

cheers

rate should be in the region of £13 - £15 per hour. PAYE. if you feel he's woth more, then go up a bit.

Cards in , 20 days paid holiday and use of company vehicle for work I would say £30,000 - £32,000 pa depending where you are in the U.K.

thats a decent salary enough to keep a youngster happy and still leaves some profit for you

that's almost bang on £15/hour as my thoughts.

I’ve not been on the books for a while, but isnt there a standard that an electrician MUST be paid? JIB rates?

Might be within the ball park amounts mentioned already.
