hi all
just wondering what dust mask you use when working on old houses etc when chasing walls and disturbing ceilings? what with asbestos now being mentioned on the radio everyday and i've known some people to die from the evil stuff. i use the drager fp3 but thinking of buying the full face mask one thats in screwfix. what you guys reckon anyone use this?

I've got the 3M one from screwfix around the £14 pound mark brilliant wouldn't be without it now, though if i were buying again i would spend the extra money and get the 3M with the changeable filters. Never thought the gas mask style ones would be any good as they are quite cumbersome.

If you find asbestos on site it's job stopped till it is professionally assessed and if required removed and disposed of by an approved contractor.
With regard to dust masks I think you need to check what particle size they will work to, I had to buy some many years ago that would allow us to work in an area where there was a specific asbestos risk. These did state that they were suitable for asbestos dust, unfortunately can't remember what make they were

I an older sparky and use the generation 1 long sleeve jumper with polo kneck that pulls up over the mouth and nose, now a dust mask that keeps you warm too :) not sure of its rating though.
