I have a lot of loose wires and cables hanging around my house in Boston - historical brick house In the city - many of the wires run to a TII box, I found a label in it that says TII 356L protector. Many of the wires are cut or loose. I am trying to figure out if this box, and the wires, are needed at all, or if this is all just old and I can rip it out.
would you be able to tell me what this is, what it’s for, and how to figure out if I can take it down? Thanks

That is a telecoms line network interface station which contains surge arrestors. Could be redundant or you could cut off people's phones if you ditch it.

anyone? It looks like it’s a surge protector... but is it safe to assume this was tied to an older installation? A bunch of the exterior wires are just cut or loose.

thanks Westward10. So what is a “telecom line network interface”? Is this related to the phone landlines or to tv/cable?
thanks again.

More than likely telephone and internet.
