Two resistors, R1 and R2 are connected in parallel. R1 is 2kW, R2 is 4kW. What is the equivalent resistance of this network (answer rounded to nearest whole Ohm):

Could you tell me how can you get the answer?

Hi Andy,

Thank you for your help but it is not a homework - it is a test review question.

Cheers,

Can I do in this way:-

1/r = 1/2k+1/4k

1/r = 2/4k+1/4k

1/r= 3/4k

r=1333

But could you mind tell me about the formula? Because I do not learn the formula in before.

Cheers,

You put the decimal point in the wrong place, the answer is 1.33 but you got it.

The formula is the method for calculating resistance in parallel, I don't know what else to say.
