What is the software design in computer science?

Hi Everybody,

Does anybody tell me, In computer science a definition of what is software design and also how they are beneficial? If you have an any idea please suggest to me. I am waiting for your positive reply.

Any software development will be broken down into the following: Analysis, Architecture, Design, Code (implementation), Test. Test will be broken down into unit test, functional verification, system test and integration test.

The design phase can be (and often is) broken down into a system level design, component level design and module level design. The process will involve making choices such as the interfaces between the various parts of the system. How the system will be managed (deployment, backup/restore etc).

This is really a huge topic and not something that can be easily summarised concisely. These days a lot of design work is done using case tools and will use something like UML (unified modelling language) and design patterns to describe a typical object oriented system.

Kinda curious that you're asking about this on an electricians forum though
