What size cable? Advice needed please

Hi everyone,

im hoping someone will be able to help me with a query i have. Im having electric underfloor heating fitted that is 2900w. And i need to run a cable from the fuse to the thermostat while my ceiling is ripped out and everything is exposed. Im putting this in place to help the electrician for when it comes to hooking everything up. It will run over a distance of approx 10m. Can any one advise me as to cable size and type i should use. Eg. Twin and earth?

Hi-Karl, providing you do not run the cable through insulation a 2.5mm2 6242Y cable will be sufficient.

Panic, the joist should be made of wood LOL

even with insulation, 2.5mm should be OK. try and avoid insulation right close to and especially on top of , the cable.
