Hi,
I'm looking for a bit of advice as what quals etc... would be best for me to concentrate on
i am am just completing an electrical apprenticeship in industry. I'm employed as an electrician, completing mainly maintenance with some installation. My apprenticeship will state 'engineering'.
my quals are:
nvq level 3 extended diploma in engineering maintenance (electrical)
eal initial verification
Eal periodic inspection
eal 17th edition
I would like to venture into domestic as an aside to my main work. I have near 4 years now, working with heavy industrial, mainly 3 phase pumps and motors including fault finding. I do single phase fault finding in site buildings and do some installation work too.
I have found that I can register with napit and start to work on my own but wanted some advice on the best path please? Niceic seem to want more specific installer quals. I will be sorting the required insurances etc...
what would be recommended as the next step? Should I register and get some experience under my belt or are there other quals I should seek out first?
My day to day job is 100% electrical, I'm not sure the quals and apprenticeship I haven put though best match my job but hey ho, it was provided by my employer and gratefully received by me (especially as a mature student- 36). I don't want to be seen as a Electrical Trainee or the like as I feel my training and experience so far is quite good.
thanks for any help and advice
