Here’s an interesting one: Plastic bath tub, full of water, being heated by a submersible element, plugged into a mains extension (so a plug connection less than 3m). Not domestic and no real zones as such (for arguments sake, imagine putting a paddling pool inside a garage, it’s that kind of vibe). Does 701 apply or not?

Is it fixed? I'd say a paddling pool inside a garage wasn't fixed so wouldn't fall under the Scope in 701.1?

I haven’t got a copy of the regs with me to remember what the exact wording of the scope and definitions are

701.1 Scope
The particular requirements of this section apply to the electrical installations in locations containing a fixed bath (bath tub, birthing pool) or shower and to the surrounding zones as described in these regulations.
This section does not apply to emergency facilities such as emergency showers used in industrial areas or laboratories.

Though not sure how they define fixed exactly...

Assuming they use the Part 2 definitions:

Fixed equipment. Equipment designed to be fastened to a support or otherwise secured in a specific location

Is a bathtub designed to be fastened to a support? I guess so - a paddling pool isn't though perhaps?
